At Dakota Square Dental, we encourage our patients to ask questions about the cosmetic and general dentistry procedures that we offer. Many of our patients have the same questions or concerns regarding our services.

Please take the time to review some of our most frequently asked questions. If you would like further information, or have additional questions, please contact our offices today. One of our trained associates will help you or refer your questions to Dr. Landsiedel. Remember, it’s never too late to invest in your smile.

Will my smile look unnatural after tooth whitening or porcelain veneers?

There was a time when technology and aesthetics had not quite caught up to each other. Before the 1990s, much of the cosmetic dental work done on front teeth involved the use of porcelain or metal crowns, or caps, that appeared opaque and flat with a denture-type look. In the last 10 years, the advances in cosmetic dentistry have given dental professionals the necessary tools to create very natural looking restorations. There are no longer dark lines at the roots, and porcelain veneers are translucent like natural teeth and are virtually undetectable.

Why do I need dental work if my teeth aren’t broken and don’t hurt?

Many people do not seek the help of a dental practitioner until it is too late. When your teeth begin to fail or fracture, it is often difficult to save much of the natural tooth. Also, when the type of work needed is extensive, the cost can be very high, requiring additional restoration and reinforcement. Early detection of potential problems can help you to avoid more invasive procedures such as extractions, oral surgeries, bridges and root canals.

What can I do to get the best smile possible?

One of the most dramatic ways to improve your smile is through teeth whitening. If your teeth are relatively balanced and symmetrical, but you have stains from natural use or smoking, a dramatic difference can be seen with the bleaching techniques used in our office. With this type of teeth whitening, we combine deep bleaching office visits with dental trays that are worn at night using a safe bleaching gel. This type of whitening can produce dramatic results in as little as two to four weeks.

On the other hand, if your front teeth are a little too short, unevenly spaced, cracked or chipped, then using dental veneers will definitely give you the best end result.

On many occasions, the best smile is achieved through a combination of deep bleaching and localized dental veneers to make for a more uniform look. Dr. Landsiedel will be happy to help you achieve the smile design that will make you happiest.

How long will it take to improve my smile?

In the most difficult cases, we can prepare and install porcelain veneers in about three to four weeks. This will require a minimum of two visits requiring two to three hours. If you are only getting the bleaching technique, two one hour visits and one to two weeks using customized dental trays should do the trick.

What is the most economical method of teeth whitening?

Once again, a dramatic cosmetic difference can be seen with the deep bleaching techniques we use. At Dakota Square Dental, we believe that a combination of deep bleaching and take-home bleaching trays are the best and most economical way to achieve whiter looking teeth.

Many dental practices offer the one hour procedure. And, while this is a fast and effective bleaching method, it is also very costly and requires follow-up bleaching to maintain results. With our dental trays, you can do touch ups at home whenever you feel the need.

How can I finance the dental work that I would like to have done?

At Dakota Square Dental, we have made arrangements with many third-party finance companies that provide financing options to patients who would like to invest in their smiles. For example, CareCredit®, a nationally recognized provider of credit for medical and dental procedures, offers many desirable payment options including low cost monthly payments and interest terms that are affordable for just about any budget. Please feel free to ask any of our staff about the types of financing that we currently have available.
